Shai Gilgeous-Alexander Has been an All-Star-level player for a while now, but he hasn’t officially earned the distinction yet. Barring injury, he is almost certain to change this season, his fifth in what remains his career campaign thunder point guard.
SGA’s most recent major installment came on Wednesday night when it hung 42 points wizardshitting 14 of his 22 shots, including what proved to be the game-winning 3-pointer with just over one second remaining.
With his 37-point performance in a row before Wednesday’s outburst, SGA is just the third player in franchise history to record three straight games of at least 35 points. Russell Westbrook made four such appearances during his OKC tenure and Kevin Durant once done.
Gilgieus-Alexander, who had six rebounds and seven assists on Wednesday, scored 11 points in the final five minutes and converted. He’s been super efficient in the clutch this season, and as arguably the most erratic passerby in the league, he’s shooting even better from 3-of-40 percent (on a more selective diet).
This adds up to over 32 points per game, third best in the league, on a 54-40-90 split. oh and there’s sga playing defense this year, very. If the season ends today he could be the best player though I will give him desmond bane,
The difference seems insufficient for what SGA is doing. That’s all-nba material. If the Thunder were a better team (they are much better than you think), this would be worthy of MVP consideration. The happy medium, again, should be the SGA’s first All-Star selection.
We know it’s always crowded out west, but there are few spots available. donovan mitchell And Dejounte Murray Both moved to the Eastern Conference. chris paul Can get off so could Rudy Gobert, Andrew Wiggins Probably won’t make it again at this rate. If SGA continues to play anywhere near the level it started at, it is a lock to hold one of those spots.
