Green County High School Student Council invites everyone to their upcoming event to honor military veterans of the area.
The Veterans Day event takes place on a Wednesday and begins at 7:30 a.m., with a free breakfast served to any veteran at the high school’s Ram restaurant. After this, the program will start in the auditorium at around 8:15 am.
Student Council President Olivia Shannon will begin the program with a welcome speech, followed by musical performances from the band and the All-State Choir. There will also be a video presentation made by the video production class.
Student Council Vice President Bella Schroeder talks about why she wants to continue a program dedicated to the region’s military veterans.
“It is really important to recognize the giants and what they do for us every day and in the past. Sometimes students get so engrossed in our daily lives that we often don’t think about it but it happens to every student. It’s good to share and make sure they remember the importance of veterans and what they do for us.
After the high school program, Green County Veterans Affairs director Michael Byrell invited veterans to stay in the auditorium for a movie. The high school program is free and open to all veterans and the public.
